Herbed Dinner Rolls

The aroma of these spices while baking?  Fantastic.

Yield: 16 Rolls


Ingredients


  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 2 tsp milled flax seed
  • 3 - 3 1/2 cups flour, divided

Directions


  1. In mixing bowl, combine the water, butter, egg, salt, spices, and yeast and mix well.  Add the milled flax seed and 1 cup for flour and mix until you have a thick goo.
  2. Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until it forms a dough.
  3. Knead for 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greast mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap.  Let rise until doubled, about 60 minutes.
  5. Turn the dough ona floured surface.  Divide into 16 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.  Place on greased baking sheets.  Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 40 minutes.
  6. Bake at 375ºF for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.  Cool on wire rack.  Serve warm.
