Mac and Cheese Pizza

The garlic sauce on this pizza is amazing -- it alone makes it a worthwhile meal: the meat and cheese are just a bonus.

Yield: 1 large pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 large pizza crust
  • White garlic sauce
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 6 cloves garlic, minced
    • 3 tbsp flour
    • 1/4 tsp black pepper
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp oregano
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 oz. ground sausage
  • 1 box macaroni & cheese, prepared according to package directions
  • 3 oz. grated mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. If making the pizza crust from scratch, pre-bake it according to recipe directions.
  2. To make the white garlic sauce, melt the butter in a small sauce pan.  Add the garlic and saute for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the flour, pepper, salt, and oregano.  Whisk together to form a thick mixture.  Add the milk.  Continue cooking over low heat, whisking occasionally, until it has thickened.  Add the Parmesan and whisk to melt.
  4. Cook the sausage in a large skillet until browned.  Drain the fat.
  5. To assemble the pizza, spread garlic sauce on the pre-baked pizza crust.  Top with prepared macaroni and cheese, and then top with sausage.  Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes.
  7. Let stand for 3-4 minutes before slicing and serving.
